Ethical Committee

Ravi Pagnamenta and Surya Cline make up the Ethical Committee, which is responsible for maintaining the Institute’s ethical standards and Code of Conduct, disciplinary action, complaints and other activities. The Committee has the authority to oversee ethical compliance, the effectiveness of the ethical framework of the Institute and to review the ethical dimensions and implications of activities undertaken within the Institute and on behalf of Institute. The Committee recognizes it is made up of members of the Institute Administration and Faculty and will periodically seek consultation and feedback from reliable third parties and organizations who are not directly affiliated with the Institute, as well as representatives from the student body. If a complaint or appeal cannot be resolved satisfactorily for all parties involved, the Ethical Committee will seek out a mediator from outside the Institute to help bring about a resolution. The Ethical Committee will always comply with local and national laws and in no way will block or attempt to supersede any investigation or legal actions of the local authorities. 

Committee Responsibilities:

  1. Upholding the values and integrity of the Institute and ensuring it is a safe and inclusive place for all its members and visitors

  2. Protecting all EPI persons from harm

  3. Investigating matters of academic and non-academic misconduct

  4. Deciding on disciplinary measures 

  5. Determining appropriate steps students may take to correct or resolve violations of academic or non-academic misconduct

  6. Hearing and deciding on formal complaints within the Institute 

  7. Hearing appeals on disciplinary decisions and measures.

  8. Ensuring principles and practices are compliant with the spirit of activities undertaken at, and in the name of, the Institute.

  9. Reviewing external legal, regulatory requirements or policy guidance relating to ethical or social responsibility matters for the Institute, and managing how effectively they are implemented and understood in the Institute.

  10. Advancing and developing the Institute’s ethical framework and periodically reviewing its effectiveness.

  11. Reviewing and suggesting policies which are in the scope of the ethics framework. 

  12. Reviewing and make final judgments on cases, circumstances and activities which have significant and/or wider-ranging ethical considerations. 

  13. Meeting periodically to assess the direction of the Institute, its practices, the feedback of its students and any other relevant matters.
